Next on Empire of Lies Episode 91: Eugenio kills Dario😭
Renata flashes back to the night of Elisa's birthday party. She remembers arriving at the scene of the murders as she held the pistol in her hand. She cries out in anguish.
Leonardo arrives at his office to find his mother who tells him that José Luis told her that when he arrived at the murder scene, Augusto and Julia were already dead. He does not believe this but Sara tells him that he had to have seen him to believe. José Luis swore this to her. Leonardo isn't impressed but Sara believed him this time as he had no reason to lie. He only lied to prevent the guilty party from hurting any of them. Leonardo still looks doubtful.
Victoria goee to Eugenio's house to get her suitcases. The maid tells her that Eugenio is out but Fabricio is in the study.
Leonardo discuss what his mother just told him with Adriana who brought up the money-laundering talk. He then asks about the man who had been found dead in the hotel room. She gets up to get the file and Mario enters the office with the warrant for Eugenio's arrest. They will act on it immediately.
Fabricio is going through some papers when Victoria questions him about Eugenio's whereabouts. Without looking up, he tells her that Dario has trapped him. The police had gone into the warehouse and found evidence against him. The maid enters to tell Victoria that Leonardo is there to talk to Eugenio. Both jaws drop. Fabricio tells Maria he will talk to Leonardo. He then tells Victoria they still have time and now his father is worth more dead than alive. He steps away from the desk and Victoria notices the pistol that lay behind the computer monitor.
Leonardo has not come alone. There are reinforcements as well as Mario and Adriana. Fabricio tells him that Eugenio is not there but of course Leonardo does not believe that. Fabricio invites them to search, so they scatter. He then tells Leonardo that Eugenio decided to escape with his accomplice, Dario. Leonardo doesn't believe this. Victoria comes in saying that Eugenio isn't there and claims not to know where he is. Also that he is the last person she would tell if she knew and asks him to get lost. The other police appear, shaking their heads. Victoria remains as stone-faced as ever while Fabricio smirks. Leonardo and the other police leave. When the door is closed, Victoria tells Fabricio she intends to strip away everything from Eugenio. She intends to make him suffer over what he loves most: Money.
As Piedad sits in her wheelchair still in shock, Majo tries to persuade Dario that it's time for them to escape. He goes over his deeds and realizes he is just like Eugenio. He tells Majo to leave but she refuses. Both cry. Eugenio shouts for him. Dario repeatedly tells Majo to leave because he can never be the man who will suit her.
Leonardo tells Elisa about José Luis' latest version of the story; she doesn't believe it and neither did Leonardo who thinks that José Luis told this to get their mother's forgiveness. He had lied to protect his family. Leonardo says that means he has to continue investigating. Suddenly they hear a noise and a cry. Then what sounds like a siren. They run upstairs and find Renata with the pistol in hand hysterically crying out. The baby is still crying. Elisa and Leonardo enter. He puts Elisa behind himself and gently tells Renata to hand him the gun.
Fabricio goes back to the study and continued looking for Eugenio's Swiss bank account numbers. Victoria is shocked and Fabricio sarcastically asks her whether he still trusts him. His father is a cold-blooded killer. He is incapable of loving anyone. His sons have suffered humiliations all throughout life. He is capable of erasing his sons at any minute. He ordered Majo's kidnapping and he was using Elisa. He ordered the murder of Augusto! Victoria begins to cry. “I just found out that he had molested Renata since she was a child,” Fabricio is shocked.
Leonardo tells Renata to look him in the eyes and hand over the pistol. She can't, “I'm crazy. Now I remember everything.” Elisa asks her what she remembers as she goes to the crib to pick up the baby.
Fabricio asks Victoria for her help to strip Eugenio of everything. He needs the bank records. Victoria takes them out of a large book. He goes to the desk, saying they have to sign something that gives Eugenio control over all of Eugenio's assets. Victoria wants assurity that Fabricio won't betray her. He says that once the money is in his hands, he will share it. He tells Victoria that if she doesn't sign the police will soon seize everything.
Renata goes kookoo as she says she will never be happy. Leonardo continues to ask fkr the gun. Renata looks at Elisa and accuses her of taking the baby then confesses to killing their father with that very weapon.
Eugenio calles out to Dario to “talk like "father and son.” Piedad goes out to Dario and tells him and Majo to escape as Eugenio will not stop at anything. Majo tells Dario to resist. Piedad says he doesn't have to be the same as Eugenio who kept taunting him. Dario then turns away from Majo to re-enter that room.
Elisa leaves the baby with the maid and goes back into Renata's room. Leonardo is still trying to talk her down and she will not surrender the gun. She sees that Elisa is no longer holding the baby and asks her if someone took him. Elisa replies yes. Renata finally hands Leonardo the gun. He leaves the room and wraps it in a bandana while Elisa embraces Renata. When Leonardo returns to the room, Renata realizes that her confession and the weapon could put her in prison. Elisa says that nobody knew what happened that night and Renata shouts not to treat her as though she were crazy. She begs forgiveness and asks to be left alone. Leonardo tells Elisa to stay with her and she almost shouts at him not to leave. Renata says she killed her father.
Clara picked up the phone then puts it back. Sara sees that something is wrong and tries to get her to talk. It's about Majo. She is worried about her and certain she would be hurt because guys like Dario don't change. She knows where they are but she doesn't want to betray Majo. She admits her feelings for her and that Majo friendzoned her. Sara tells her that if she is certain of the danger, she has to help. That will be a true expression of love. She urges her to contact Leonardo.
Elisa follows Leonardo down the Staircase and begs him not to do this even saying he was doing this to save his brother. Leonardo says that his brother is a different matter. Elisa goes into denial saying that Renata had another crisis. He tries to get her to calm down saying that it could prove Renata's innocence but she says she will never forgive him if Renata ends up in prison. He walks out without another word.
Eugenio keeps on shouting. Majo becomes more anxious about Dario and doesn't know what to do. Piedad tells her to talk to Dario since she is the only one who can influence him but Majo saimys that if Eugenio had been messing with his head since childhood, he has to die.
Adriana tells Leonardo that the gun is with the ballistics. If the tests prove that Renata was the killer, he will have to explain this to Elisa as that will have to cause him to lose her. He wants to protect her from any more pain. He wants her to be happy. His phone rings. It's Clara who tells him where Majo and Dario are.
Eugenio pulls the biggest gun on Dario right to his forehead before making it clear he is his father and saying he loves him. They struggle for the gun. Majo and Piedad hear the shot and sadly Dario has been shot. Eugenio walks out of the room and walks right past Majo and Piedad who cry out “You shot your own son!” Majo yells to call an ambulance.
Dario has been hit in the gut. Piedad makes a call then sees Majo hold Dario and tells him he is goig to live. Her sobs makes it impossible to understand him until he asks her to kiss him which she does. She begs him not to leave her alone. Sadly, Dario dies in Majo's arms

Whenever you're trying to sell something to someone,
Or whenever you try to convince someone of something
There's always a crucial moment where the customer makes a definite decision to either buy or not
Where she decides whether she likes you or not
This is called the close.
Once the close happens, the deal is DONE.
Your customer has decided he will buy that for example $39 Item.
That cute girl in the club has decided she will want to go home with you tonight.
The sale is over and you now walk to the register together to finish up the deal.
Right?
Well this is where many (inexperienced) guys start making a huge mistake
They keep selling even after the other person has already decided they're going to buy
And it's costing them a lot of sales,
because they're selling past the close.
Very Dangerous move.
So what is selling past the close?
It's when you keep trying to convince someone that's already convinced
And by doing so, you're accidentally giving them arguments against buying
So they end up reconsidering and the deals off
Leaving you empty handed.
But let's make this clearer with an example
Let's say you're a real estate agent
You have a potential buyer.
Show her the house.
"Look at the great finish. Four bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, big living area"
"Wow it's great, I'll take it!"
Great, you've made the close.
What you should have done now is tell her:
You've made a great decision, let me get the papers"
Instead you keep selling the house "Great choice Ma'm!
You'll have some great summers in the huge 2 acres back garden!"
"Huh wait what? 2 acres?!
That's way too big for me!"
Deal's off.
She hadn't realized the garden was that big yet
and thinking about how many hours she'd be spending on gardening scared her away
You were selling past the close and it blew up in your face
NEVER sell past the close
It never works out in your favor
Why?
Because you already have the result you want right?
There's nothing left to gain
He's already going to buy the course.
She's already going home with you.
What more can you get out of this? Him buying 2x?
Selling after the close is like suggesting a rematch after already having won the tournament
At best you'll win again but get nothing.
At worst you'll lose everything
So learn to recognize when you've made the sale
Learn to recognize the close
And ease on the pedal after that.
Once you've made the close,
you should go into cruise mode
Before the close, you want them in a thinking mode.
You want them to consider the great arguments you have
After the close you want them to stop thinking
and just go for the register to check out.
After the close you simply want to be friendly & keep a great atmosphere
And then once the contract has been signed,
then you can go back to selling
You can then either go for the upsell for the same customer
Or you can wave goodbye and look out for your next customer.
Selling past the close is especially common in dating
Guys convincing girls to go home with them/on a date with them
Only to keep trying to convince and impress her even after she's already said yes
Losing the girl because they seem too eager.
Because they step into her frame.
If she's said yes to going home with you,
don't try to convince her she's making the right choice.
Instead just enjoy your time together
If she's said yes to the date, don't spend your entire date convincing her it was the right choice.
Simply enjoy your time together.
Selling past the close is a very common beginner error (together with overgaming)
Especially with guys that read online advice
It's like a guy getting into style advice, then turning up in a 3 piece suit everywhere & then switching into his suitjama when he gets home
overkill.
So stop selling past the close
Learn how to recognize the moment
Learn to switch into cruise mode after the moment happens.
