– The three-week period will allow Sonko's legal team to interrogate the High Court ruling that upheld his impeachment as Nairobi Governor Politician Mike Sonko's legal team could move to the Court of Appeal to challenge High Court's ruling upholding his impeachment.
Through lawyer Evans Ondieki, Sonko, the petitioner, sought conservatory orders barring the swearing-in of deputy governor Anne Kananu as the Nairobi governor.
Ondieki urged the Nairobi High Court judges Juma Chitembwe, Wilfrida Okwany and Weldon Korir to delay the swearing-in for 21 days to interrogate the ruling.
Mike Sonko Welcomes Court Decision Upholding His Impeachment as Nairobi Governor "Who will serve any prejudice of you delayed the process of swearing-in
of the deputy governor for 21 days? Nobody. Can you give us a chance
to articulate these issues at the Court of Appeal, we don't want to critique your judgement, we want to have a look at it. If you don't give
conservatory orders, it will appear as if the court has made up its mind
and the matter cannot be challenged in another forum" he argued.
Sonko's pleadings
The politician filed several petitions challenging among many other
decisions, including his ouster and the subsequent nomination and
swearing-in of Kananu as the deputy governor.
