When parents send their children to school, they always have very big expectations. Realistically, campus is a learning zone where the outcome is either good or bad. All manner of categories of students are found there. Ranging from the spoilt to the well behaved, from drug addicts to thieves to business oriented to the more focused on books. It is always upon the individual self to know where you lie and the right groups to follow and the right dealings to engage in.
However, when students reach at school they tend to change their lifestyle and live a different life. After getting full assertion that one can easily earn without struggling and the zeal to live luxuriously takes over, the individual students start to indulge in activities such as drug trafficking, theft, and even “sponsors”. The issue of sponsors has become key to both boys and girls and they no longer care about their reputation anymore.
As parents struggle to ensure that their students get the basics in order to achieve their dreams, the students are busy being driven astray and far away from their main goal. We all want a lurious life, but the question is, are we doing what it takes to get there? Are we following the right procedures? Are we listening to the right advice? Basically no. Some students even put to omission the idea of going to church and would rather go out parting till late night.
Sexual abuse has become a common issue and by now, students think that there is pleasure in it. This has however contributed highly in the spread of STIs, STDs, and HIV/AIDs. Very few want to get bothered about testing and keeping safe. As parents await good grades, the health of their students is detororiating and this leads to early and pre-mature deaths.
It has also become a question of concern that these students don’t want to keep fit by endulging in physical activities like games. They would rather focus on getting money than a better health.
On the other side, there are these students who take part in constructive activities like the HIV Control unit and the cancer awareness. They ensure that fellow students get tested and are subjected to positive environment. A good number also are taking part in businesses like junk foods, clothing, malimali, jewellery, saloon and barber services.
While some are based on fellow students, others are concerned about classes, lectures, drama, dances and school leadership. This has enabled them to grow and become a good example to others.
A polite notice to all students. “Know who you are and what you want to become and use the available resources to bring out the best in you”
