Proverbs 19:2, Luke 9:25
*Proverbs 19:2a “Also, it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge…”*
*The greatest investment in life is an investment in your soul.* Our opening scripture points out clearly that it is not good for the soul of a man to be without knowledge. A soul devoid of knowledge, particularly the knowledge of God is dead, though the man may be alive bodily. *The state of a man’s soul is very important because the state of your soul is the true value that you have and can carry to eternity. Whatever you invest in this world will stay in this world but whatever you invest into your soul will follow you into eternity*. This means that you need to pay attention to and be deliberate about the investments you make into your soul. You need to be careful what you are investing into your soul. *Carnal investments will create a deformed soul, but spiritual investments will produce a healthy soul.*
*Investing in your soul happens through knowledge acquisition. This is beyond acquiring knowledge of natural things, as good as that may be. The emphasis here is on the knowledge of God.* It is only this kind of knowledge that can transcend time into eternity. *The light of the word of God in your soul is treasure*. The Psalmist tells us in Psalm 119:162, “I rejoice at your Word as one who finds great treasure”. Invest the love of God, the knowledge of God, the treasures of God into your soul. This is true investment.
The Bible tells us to allow the word of God dwell richly in us. Anything short of “richly”, cannot produce a wholesome soul. The word of God can make you wise and give you an inheritance among they that are sanctified. *Create a culture of sitting down at the Master’s feet and learning the word. Load up your heart with the word of God.* The light of God’s word will show you how to love, be meek, and patient; it will show you how to be just, righteous, and much more. These are the things that God treasures because they are treasures indeed. Let your heart be enlightened in the knowledge of God. Make up your mind today to enrich your soul with light, knowledge and understanding. .
My Solid Front (Confession): In the name of Jesus, I give attention to the word, and I meditate on it day and night. I allow the word of God dwell in me richly in Jesus’ name. Amen.
