When we are in our 20s, we generally have plenty of time, but with no money. So, the investment we can make is our time. But where do we invest our time?
We invest time by learning, building relationships and trust with people. The more trust you build, the more leverage you will have. People will invest their capital and time in you if you’ve earned their trust.
They will stop everything they do to watch your new video on YouTube, read your latest blog, or any other creative product.
And that means they are sacrificing their time and bundles to see your work. That is a significant investment. And you can use their efforts to move things.
If you continue creating quality content for your followers, you are investing time, effort and converting it into trust. You then scale up the trust to start making money.
However, this system doesn’t work for everyone. Most people don’t have the needed patience. They want to exchange the invested time with money immediately. Young people don’t have the patience to wait longer.
I engage with my fellow youths who want to start a YouTube channel and start producing comedy or music content. And they do ask a lot of questions that revolve around earning from their creative work.
Honestly, everything on this planet takes time to mature. From our lives, we took quite some time to start reasoning like adults. No one was born with that craft at a go.
Then why should we start something today and expect to live like people who have been in the industry for 10 years?
Building trust takes a lot of time, yet it pays in the long run. If you begin something today, the only person who can recognize it is your neighbors, relatives, and friends.
And that cycle can’t help you much. You need to begin networking, and the whole process relies on trust. Before I purchase or click a link on your profile, I first need to trust you.
The creative industry is overrated, and the competition is constantly growing. Stop thinking about how to start earning money; start with building trust.
