LAUNCH OF KYO WEBSITE (By MARTIN ORINA-COMMUNICATION DIRECTOR)
On 8th July 2023, KYO launched its new website, marking a significant milestone in its digital presence. The website aims to provide a user-friendly and informative platform for visitors to learn about KYO’s mission, activities and achievements.
It features a visually appealing design with easy navigation and clear sections for different areas of interests. The launch of the website signifies the organization’s commitment to embracing digital technologies and reaching a wider audience online.
ATTENDANCE
The event was colorful with many youth leaders in attendance. Counties that were well represented included: NAIROBI, BOMET, LAMU, KWALE, MERU, KIRINYAGA, MURANG’A, NYANDARUA, KIAMBU, WAJIR, TURKANA, MANDERA, NAKURU, KAKAMEGA, KISII, KERICHO, NAROK, MACHAKOS, KITUI, KAJIADO, UASIN GISHU, KISUMU, and BUNGOMA. Infact all the big eight regions in Kenya were well represented in this event. Many of those who didn’t manage to attend especially County Chairpersons sent their apologies and greetings
SPECIAL THANKS
Special thanks goes to the following:
a) KYO National Coordinator Mr. Jeremiah Kimani, Kiambu County Chairperson Mr. Kevin Waweru and other leaders who planned the event and made sure it becomes a success.
b) All the Theta Ward KYO leaders from Juja Sub-County who made the event more meaningful by providing security services. They also made it possible for the event to go live on Facebook.
c) All the County Chairpersons who sacrificed their time and resources to come and witness this special occasion.
d) All other KYO leaders from Sub-County and Ward level who attended the launch and made it a success.
FUTURE PLANS
a) The official date for KYO National elections will be announced soon. Therefore, aspirants should continue their campaigns in a respectful manner so as to protect the good image of KYO.
b) After National elections, KYO will be officially launched in a big ceremony which will be held in Nairobi. All KYO leaders from all over the country will be expected to attend.
c) KYO is in the process of acquiring an office in the CBD which will serve as its headquarters. As soon as this is accomplished, members and leaders will be notified accordingly.
d) All leaders in the County, Sub-County and Ward levels are urged to continue promoting youth activities in their respective jurisdictions as the organization continues to take shape.
RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE WEBSITE
The following are just but some of the recommendations made by leaders as far as the website is concerned:
a) The website should also include interactive elements such as contact forms and live chat support to enhance user engagement and facilitate communication with the organization.
b) The website should be optimized for mobile devices, ensuring a seamless browsing experience for users on smartphones and tablets.
CONCLUSION
KYO is a new platform for youths to make their voices heard and to ensure they fully participate in leadership and governance. Therefore, let us embrace this platform positively and work towards achieving our common goal.
