QuickMart Supermarket has taken up the space Tuskys vacated at Pioneer House in Nairobi’s central business district, making it the biggest beneficiary of the troubles facing the retail sector.

The retailer started operations at the building situated at the junction of Moi Avenue and Harambee Avenue on Friday, stepping up competition for customers with retailers such as Naivas that has a presence in the area.

QuickMart’s chief operations officer Stephen Karanja told the Business Daily in an interview yesterday that the new store is targeting customers heading to Nairobi’s train station as well those working along Harambee Avenue offices.
