When we are in our 20s, we generally have plenty of time, but with no money. So, the investment we can make is our time. But where do we invest our time?
We invest time by learning, building relationships and trust with people. The more trust you build, the more leverage you will have. People will invest their capital and time in you if you’ve earned their trust.
They will stop everything they do to watch your new video on YouTube, read your latest blog, or any other creative product.
And that means they are sacrificing their time and bundles to see your work. That is a significant investment. And you can use their efforts to move things.
If you continue creating quality content for your followers, you are investing time, effort and converting it into trust. You then scale up the trust to start making money.
However, this system doesn’t work for everyone. Most people don’t have the needed patience. They want to exchange the invested time with money immediately. Young people don’t have the patience to wait longer.
I engage with my fellow youths who want to start a YouTube channel and start producing comedy or music content. And they do ask a lot of questions that revolve around earning from their creative work.
Honestly, everything on this planet takes time to mature. From our lives, we took quite some time to start reasoning like adults. No one was born with that craft at a go.
Then why should we start something today and expect to live like people who have been in the industry for 10 years?
Building trust takes a lot of time, yet it pays in the long run. If you begin something today, the only person who can recognize it is your neighbors, relatives, and friends.
And that cycle can’t help you much. You need to begin networking, and the whole process relies on trust. Before I purchase or click a link on your profile, I first need to trust you.
The creative industry is overrated, and the competition is constantly growing. Stop thinking about how to start earning money; start with building trust.
Since it's a beautiful Monday, we spend a lot of time talking about everything we have to do.
You have to finish 2,3.....10 tasks at work. You have to exercise today. You have to cook dinner for yourself or for kids
The word, "you have to" is not showing sense of determination.
Let's change it to, "we get to complete all tasks ahead of us" A win-win for the week.

Creativity is so jealous. You either do it or leave, the moment you begin multitasking it with something else you lose focus completely. You don't grow, and you can't challenge yourself.

Where can I find ideas to write? How are people going to react to my ideas? How can I manage my time to get written words from me?
As am writing this, my main idea is the first question of which I don’t know the exact answer. But what I know is that everything under the sun has been done already. Honestly, original ideas are rare to capture, even the top bloggers, artists and writers can tell the same.
I have witnessed scenarios where comedians buy jokes from their fellows, musicians sampling flow and rhythms, writers researching contents from published articles and the list goes on and on.
Creativity is like fishing or surfing, some days you capture the mounds, other days you miss them all. Some days there are zero waves in any respect, and take everything all the way to the shore of the lake and sometimes not. I can agree that you still have to show up every day with your board.
You never know which days and nights you’re going to hook the dunes and the days you’re going to miss them. That is the concern it. You have to show up to find out.
On issue to do with time, for sure it is hard and challenging for someone not ready to hold the bull by its horns. Sometimes I get home and find myself on bed.
Daytime hours seem to be short. But this is what do always, I carry my smartphone with me everywhere I go and take advantage of random blocks of free time to write.
I write while in line in the supermarket, taking a ride, in a matatu waiting for passengers to fill in or while on the waiting bench in the barbershop.
I’m not perfect though, it is pretty and sometimes I may look a little crazy and obsessed. But I have to do it because it is what real bloggers or content creators do.
What people will say is the fun in this creative game. Taking your work to the public means you’re ripping your heart out and offering it to strangers.
Even if you want to do music, comedy, filming, acting or even blogging, your work will be out there for the world to see, criticize and judge. People’s opinions yield some good benefits to your brand-knowing your strengths and weaknesses.
All of the above can help you in assessing your skills and capabilities.

Why did I have to travel from my village to this city?
To look for ‘hope’ that everyone from the town was talking about,
To write a story of myself,
To see the struggles that everyone from the city was talking about,
To understand how people were starting their lives in the paper bag houses to apartments,
I heard several stories from when I was growing up, “that real stories begin in the city.”
For sure, it is.
This is the city where some people dress well every morning with nothing in the pockets.
Where people have big titles but with no money.
Where people have good qualifications that aren’t helping them at all.
There are painful stories in the city; at the same time, there are inspiring stories.
But the truth is,
Your story is determined by how much you stick to “what brought you to the city.”
Some of us came with no connections, no qualifications, and no experience.
And to make it worse, some came with zero skills.
Another thing; Life doesn’t come with a manual. You just have to figure out what is working for you.
Some are making money from their natural talents, and some earn from their skills,
Some are just entrepreneurs,
Some are making money from the investment they made in their education.
Hehe, some are even making money through lying to us. And those are the leaders we fight for in every election.
Just stick to what brought you to the city.

It's pretty simple.
If you get in front of people a lot of times and are reliably informative each time, you'll be deemed reputable.
Whether you're sitting on panels,
guest-lecturing in online classes,
speaking at conferences,
giving press interviews,
or
offering insights on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
You've got to put yourself out there enough so that people begin to recognize your name and what you have to offer.
Few people will understand it but the secret is, "nurture the few already under your arms" and finally you'll get referrals.

What can really hurt us most?
Imagine if your car is stolen or got your house on fire, insurance will cover it. Fired from a job, you can quickly move on, believing in finding another one tomorrow. Met with an accident or a crisis and survived, you still feel grateful.
These things hurt for sure but not for a more extended period since you have redemption somehow.
Then…. What can really hurt us most? That we can’t forget much easily.
It is emotions.
Emotions have no redemption.
We are bound and attached in relationships with emotions. I remember one day asking divorced couples their main reason for divorce.
And each of them was like, “Don’t remind about that evil.” How now? How can you rename " a devil" someone you spent over ten years waking up from the same bed and roof together?
Everything you can control, stress and depression you can manage.
But when it comes to emotions, you fall and lose the battle.
Everyone is emotionally murdered the moment they are hurt and betrayed by someone they loved more than themselves.
If you think about someone who used to care and loved you a lot is no longer giving a f***k, you get deeper into emotions. Whether it is your dad, mum, partner, or even friends, it still hurts.
People who have been through betrayal, breakups, and disinheritance understand the pain much better.
You live in the past every day, cherishing those memories that are imprinted on your mind like forever. It hurts, but you finally find solace.
You find yourself in an illusion, expecting things to get better, and they don’t. You are not adequately ready to accept the truth, bear the rejections, and kill those beautiful memories.
Emotions hurt more than everything on the planet.
Complaining is not part of my genes anymore. I stopped! But if it is a must that I have to complain, I would rather say my point and keep silent. It is either to say YES or No when something is not working well with me.
In most life cases, and this is something I have witnessed and experienced.
We do complain and stop at that point. We don't always go beyond complaints.
We complain about high taxes imposed on us and stop it there while waiting for the Government to intervene. Finally, they remain to be our new norm.
The fuel prices keep on rising every year, and still, we remain hopeful to get back to the previous rates.
It is good to be hopeful, but we will remain stagnant for a while when we mix it with complaints.
It is a disease meant to delay us towards what we want to achieve in life. If you want to grow your skill and still complain about your financial status, then you make no move. The first step to help you master that skill is to scan around to find out what else can make it work.
If it's about money, then look for odd jobs to help you raise funds. Do any kind of job that will pass across your sight. No one cares if you can’t first help yourself. Don’t say it is impossible and stop at that point. God also loves people who help themselves.
I have come across people complaining about the condition of their background,
Ooh, you know I come from a humble background, my family is not well off, I'm a total orphan, and everything makes us feel emotional.
At the end of your story, still, no one cares.
Why?
Because there are millions of people that have worst conditions even more than yours.
Secondly, there is little trust nowadays because thousands of fake stories pop up every day.
I don't have enough; I don't even qualify to lecture you, and I'm not attacking you in any way.
What I share here are my own experiences, mistakes and faults. If it is about complaining, I did that more than everyone else, and that is before I figured out what was or not working for me.#talksense

Who is an online content creator?
A content creator is you and me! The only difference is that maybe you've not realized you can make money from your content. And that's why we have wealthy content creators than others.
Now,
Online content is a piece of work in the form of visuals and text published on digital platforms to educate, entertain, and inform the public.
These digital platforms may include social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) and Search engines like Google or Yahoo.
You can become an online content creator through writing blogs, creating YouTube videos, or start posting something useful through your social media handles the way I'm doing it right now. This piece is helpful since it is trying to show my followers how they can make money from their published content.
There so many things that one can explore, be it health and fitness, food, fashion, or travel. Pinpoint an area that you are passionate about and start creating something that can help you stand out.
If you can do an online comedy, sing, or make animated videos go ahead and do so. If you are a chef, go ahead and create content about your kitchen skills that can help beginners or experts in the same industry. No one is perfect, and we keep learning every day.
How can you make money as an online content creator?
Hehe, this is the point where most people get frustrated. At this point, if you're not passionate and determined you will automatically quit. It doesn't happen overnight. You must invest more of your time and emotions; you must love and enjoy doing it.
Making money comes at that point when people begin to know about your brand and what you offer. And if you want to catalyze your growth, then you need to master some digital marketing skills.
Learn something on social media marketing, email marketing, and Search engine optimization. All of the above skills will help you promote your content to reach a wider audience. But don't worry, if you are stranded, reach out to me. I will try and advise you on the best approach.#talksense

The most powerful aspect of social media marketing is the auditing and highlighting some areas that need improvement in your auditing report.
It's done on a monthly basis. If the business experienced low conversions and sales in the previous month, you must highlight what triggered that.
The purpose of social media to businesses is to build robust brand awareness, lead generation, traffic and sales.
Sometimes clients complain about the rates but it's your responsibility to tell them the reason behind that.
You deserve a better compensation and your prospects deserve better results. Work it out smartly.

For my entire life, I rarely depend on favours. I get my ass out there and work hard for my own money. I never stopped since I completed high school.
I worked with one of my uncles for close to 2 years. And he's that one referee who can't miss on my cv. He insisted that I have to get to college and secure knowledge, and he for sure supported me all through.
Many may see this as suffering, but it is a real-life skill and a test that every young person should go through.
It prepares you for excellent financial management skills.
It teaches you the value of money that pocketing a single coin is a big deal.
I see this picture and say, "Yes, I started from zero."
It gets the fear out of me that I may lose and start again from zero.
Don't fear losing when you started from scratch.

To the young boys, here is my appeal to you. First, focus on your career, build it and make it define your brand before you bother finding a life partner; your rib. It's not a competition but self resilience, being in position to provide the best life, moral and financial support.
At the end of the day, your career is the wall that your family or marriage will lean on.
It's the foundation and the roofing that encloses a happy marriage. These women we see around us need hardworking gentlemen and not coach potatoes.
Unless she doesn't know or understand the value of sweat that oozes from a man's skin, she would be making you rush over things when you're not ready. Be honest with yourself.

It is a beautiful Monday, and I decided to take this section off from my book writing project and share it with you guys. Most preferably to help out beginners in the creative economy.
Now,
In every profession, there must be an expert and a beginner. And a bush fire begins with just a spark of fire, so don't despise your humble beginnings. But it would help if you had a mentor in the front, someone who is in line with what you want to do.
A mentor will help when you are stranded or when you do something wrong. Our first mentors were our parents; they trained and guided us on some necessary life skills and behaviors. Without their support, I couldn't be where I'm today and to you as well.
Parents prepared you physically and intellectually before they handed you over to teachers. Teachers also did their best to train you on maturity and prepared you for a College or University. You again handed over to lecturers who made you ready for the government to now pay taxes. And that's the channel in human growth both mentally and physically.
After college, you become a responsible citizen and well informed on law-abiding responsibility as a citizen. You are now mature and ready to stand by your own. You look for a job and begin planning for your wedding and family, buy a car, home, and everything you were dreaming of. This a process that occurs from the mentorship we get from teachers and parents.
What about your creative career? You again need a mentor who will put you in a position to meet the client's specifications and qualifications.
A mentor will assist you with some corporate genes and characteristics. And how to brand yourself for your career and personal grooming. A mentor should be a person who has achieved much in his career and with enough experience to help you move fast.
A beginner shouldn't be your mentor because both of you are still learning, and helping each other will be challenging.
Most successful people didn't reach there alone; they had some human forces behind them. Many people are willing to support you, and they are waiting for you to knock on their doors. Ask for help from people above you. Spot your mentor with the same dream and interest so that you get qualified assistance every moment you are stuck.

If you are a young creative and need help from people already at the top of the page as the most influential in your niche, don't just inbox them.
I made several mistakes when I was starting, inboxed people but got zero results. Why? My approach was a little attractive. I don't blame them for ignoring me; they were right; my process was daunting. And I'm sorry for myself.
But this was the lesson, " you need to have few achievements before you approach someone for help and support."
Mention such achievement when asking for help. It will act as a backup, and at least it will give you some credibility.
if you say you can sing and you have no single sample of your work on YouTube or any other channel, your story will lack credibility, and no one cares.
You say you're a comedian, and you don't have even a single recording of your work.
You are a graphic designer, web developer, programmer, and no sample of your work recorded. Start now and give yourself back up and credibility.

I was just reminding myself that April is closing out. That means we are almost in the mid of the year. 2021 is coming to an end soon.
Again, it reminded me of last year; April was the month that several businesses were closing doors. It was the beginning of quarantine. And many of us said, “hii ni homa na itaisha tu.”
We believed we had a more robust immune system and expected to return to operations and businesses in 2 weeks.
The sh**t happened. Instead of people getting back to normal operations, we continued losing jobs. More companies’ shutting down completely.
Some people were kicked out of their houses for rent arrears. Others sold households to keep surviving, which didn’t last for long. Pay cuts were introduced.
The unpaid leaves came into reality, the redundancy and everything negative came into sensation both online and offline.
At the beginning of April, people were actually able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The entertainment industry was picking up so well- most of the creatives were getting bookings.
The advertisement and marketing niche also responded so well; companies were already hiring influencers, photographers, and videographers.
We can’t forget to mention the hospitality industry, where the Easter holiday reflected a high season.
There was immense hope. It hurts me watching the scramble.
The scramble is real, and we just need to keep our focus on the positive aspect of life.
If you were to join College, know that it is on pause, and the dream shall come true. If you were to wed, know that it is on break. If you were to have a home, know it is on pause.
Everything is on pause; we shall begin the battle later on. Tukishindwa tunarudi ushago hatukufukzwa home.
Are we together?
