Brian Donnelly, known as KAWS, is a New York-based artist and limited-edition toy and apparel designer. Originally from Jersey City, New Jersey, he now lives and works in Brooklyn.
In 1996, Brian graduated from the New York School of Visual Arts, receiving a bachelor's degree there. After graduation, he successfully collaborated with Disney for some time as a freelancer, drawing backgrounds. During this time, he contributed to such animated series as 101 Dalmatians or the Disney version of Doug.
After moving to New York, KAWS was repeatedly featured on billboards, bus stops and stands. Gradually, the artist’s popularity increased, his name became more and more recognizable, and he himself became more and more in demand.
